Dr. Hamish McLean
Hamish McLean has more than 30 years’ operational experience in disaster and crisis management with Queensland emergency services, Queensland Police and in consultancy. He has facilitated four programs in Mongolia - 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2023 along with hosting Mongolian delegations in 2020 and 2023. After stepping down from a full-time academic role, Hamish is currently an Adjunct Research Fellow at Griffith University. Hamish is the co-author of two books on disaster and crisis communication. He is the director of a crisis communication consultancy in Brisbane and has managed this project on a philanthropic basis since 2021. He holds a PhD in disasters.
